Napping on Mommy
This is what I get to look at right now. It's been a long time since
you napped in my arms. Cherrishing the moment.

Water Baby
Today was your first water baby class. Here you are modelling your new
bathing suite. You did not look this happy once we got into the water.
You were very unsure of all that giant pool. You clung to me like a
little koala baby the whole time. You actually started to relax a
little during the last five minutes of class. Maybe next week you will
have more fun.

Update: 10 months
Dear Lily,
Yesterday you turned 10 months old. You have changed a lot in the past month. You are now crawling like a pro. Last night we were upstairs and told you it was time to take a bath. You stopped what you were doing and crawled to the bathroom. Your understanding of language is astounding. We can now tell you what we are doing and you seem to understand. You love to learn. You can now point to pictures in your books! We can ask you to go find your dog, pig, or cat and you can actually get the right animal. You love to show off that you know where your is your head, tongue, toes, hands, feet, and nose.
As I type this you are standing, holding yourself up on your toy box, and bouncing. As of lately, this is your new favorite past time. You are much more vocal now too. You say "uh" for "uh-oh" and if I ask you what does the clock say you whisper "tick tock tick tock." You say "Dada" and "Mama" but not really to call us. I think you are going to start saying "Mama" any day now. Your babble has really exploded lately. You are definitely gearing up to talk!
You have grown so much and we are so proud of you. You have a great sense of humor. You think Daddy is really funny. You are very happy and always have a smile on your face. When you give us a hug we just melt. We love you so much!!
This past week Philadelphia got more snow than any other winter in recorded history. You are not too interested in all that cold snow. We spent a while watching Daddy shovel the street so he could get his car out of the snow. Here is Daddy behind the giant pile of snow.
Catching snow or flies....I'm not exactly sure.

More Snow
We're snowed in again today. It's starting to come down pretty hard
and isn't supposed to stop until around midnight.

Lego My Lego
We were playing with Legos the other day and I realized had forgotten just how much fun Legos can be. I built you a perfectly symmetrical, color-coordinated, Egyptian-themed fortress type thingy. You were happy as long as you had a Lego block in each hand and paid no mind to my efforts. However, the day will soon come when your interest in Legos will compete with mine. I foresee problems and Daddy/daughter Lego fights. We should buy more Legos.

New face
You have been making this face lately. I'm not sure why but it sure is
funny. Also note that you have two paper napkins in your hand
(otherwise known as trash). You will play with old paper or socks over
toys anyday. Earlier today you were holding two of your socks in your
hand. I let you take them in the grocery store. Apparently other
babies don't do this because THREE people stopped to say that was so
funny. I totally thought all babies liked to hold socks.

9 month Stats
Last week you had your 9 month doctor's visit. Here are your current stats:
Weight = 21 lbs (77th percentile)
Height = 2' 5.5" (93rd percentile)
That means your weight has finally started to even off, but you are growing taller very fast. You have grown an inch a month for the last three months. About a month ago I remember looking at your fingers and thinking they had sprouted over night. They suddenly looked so long to me. You are changing so fast. I notice something new almost every day.
The doctor recommended that you start eating more table food (not just baby food). So we have been letting you try a little of whatever we are eating. You have pretty much refused everything we have offered by making this adorable face in which you purse your lips really tight. As to say there is NO WAY you are getting THAT food in MY mouth. I do have to mention the two exceptions to this rule. You have a strong love affair with cheese. You would eat a pound of cheese if I let you. You also love cereal puffs and will point to them when you see them out.
So yesterday I was holding you in my arms and eating a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie when you grabbed it from my hand. I thought that's no big deal because you won't eat anything that I eat. Well now we have to add cookies to your list of solid foods. I couldn't believe you actually ate it (of course I only let you have the one bite). Cheese, cereal puffs, cookies. This is going to be fun.

Cabin Fever
After being cooped up all day during the blizzard yesterday we all
needed to get outside for a few minutes. Here we are in front of our
snow-covered house. It's hard to see you in the backpack since you're
all bundled up in jacket a couple of sizes too big. That's why Daddy
shouldn't buy your jackets.
