Chopsticks Swing

Request to be put in a swing that is too big for you. Request to get
out of the swing. Give the chopsticks a turn to swing. Repeat.

On the stairs

Why would you play with toys when there are stairs to be climbed and
doors to be opened?

Update: 16 months

Dear Lily,
You are now 16 months old! Your time spent as a real baby becomes more distant every day. You are now a true toddler. You have your own personality and you certainly let us know what you want. You are communicating so much! These are the new words you have recently added to your vocabulary: sit, roll, bear, hi, oh-no, circle, one, two, five, yellow, blue, green, all done, down, cheese, outside, butterfly, eh eh eh/elephant, shoes, off, happy, hot, open, closed, boon/balloon. There are probably more but those are all I can think of at the moment. You wake up talking and don't stop all day! You started putting a few two-word utterances together like "sit Mama." You will go pick out a book, bring it to me, then point your little finger on a spot on the ground and say "Mama sit." Totally cute! This week you also used your first grammatical structure!! Possessive nouns! You will say "Lily's" for some things that are yours. That makes me a proud Mama!

We are starting to see how you think. When something is not in it's correct place you are quick to say "no no no." You are a very neat person thus far. You don't like to be too dirty and you like to put things back where they belong. I hope that's a trait that sticks around for a while.

The other day you were enjoying one of your new favorite past times, coloring. We were making dots on the paper when you drew a line. I said that was a very nice line. You then roared like a lion. I guess you thought the word "line" and "lion" sound the same.

We went through a phase of temper tantrums this month. Daddy and I ignored this behavior and they have almost stopped. I'm sure there are more to come but you have really chilled out recently. I think the picky eater part of you is here to stay for a long while. You are not interested in trying anything new. You are happy to stick to cheese, lunch meat, fruit, and pasta.

Last week we went to Smith Playground with Javier. When we were leaving he gave you a hug and you kissed him. Daddy was not too happy about this. Here you are on the seesaw with Javier:

Driving a fire engine:

You absolutely loved spinning this thing. You would point to it and say "yellow" then point to the blue one and "boo." You saw another girl climb in the blue one and start spinning. So you say "Lily" and pointed to it. I put you in and spun you around. You quickly said "no no no." You had more fun just spinning it yourself:

There is an indoor playhouse at Smith Playground. You gravitated to the baby dolls, kid size brooms, and play kitchen. Here you are pushing the stroller around:

Carefully placing another baby in the stroller:

Yesterday we went to another Union game. We got you a little jersey and you often pointed out that it was the same as "Daddy's":

Smiling with a mouth full of crackers:

This is usually where you can be found. You are constantly pulling at my legs or walking through my legs:

Kid Day at the Farmer's Market

The farmer's market had their annual kid day! Here we are attempting a family portrait.

You took a liking to the hula hoops. You would swing the hula hoop back and forth. We're pretty sure that you thought you were the best hula hooper ever. Other parents tried to get their kid to hula hoop only to have them lose interest after a few minutes. You remained focused until we told you it was time to move on to something different.

We went inside a tent filled with butterflies. We watched this butterfly eat nectar off a pompom with it's proboscis. Since we read the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" everyday you really enjoyed seeing real butterflies.

In the tent pointing to a butterfly on the wall.

You were very attentive and listened to the butterfly lady talk all about butterflies. We even got to wake up some butterflies that were sleeping in paper!

Looking at the goats.

We wish the farmer's market was this much fun every week!

Dancing with Daddy

Dear Lily,
Last Thursday night we decided to throw you a curve ball and go out past your bed time. We went to a free outdoor concert in our very own Lansdowne. There was a wonderful singer/songwriter playing guitar. You are so tuned in to anything musical. You sat on my lap eating grapes and watching her sing. It was a nice relaxing evening. After about 45 minutes you started to get a little antsy so Daddy took you to the back and danced with you. You were really into it. I sneaked a little video.

Mommy
