Super Lily! pt. 2

Here are some videos we took during our recent picnic at a park in the city. We haven't been there in so long since it's been such a hot summer.

On our very first trip there last year when you were probably about 3 months old, Mommy attempted to hoist you on her knees while reclined to do a "Superman." You threw up on Mommy. It was gross.

Feeling confident at your increased tolerance for acrobatic maneuvering, Mommy tried again. The result. Success!

The Sheet says "Baa"

Yesterday I was folding laundry when you pointed to a sheet and said "sheet." I was pretty impressed that you knew this word. Then you started to say "sheet, baa." You must think "sheet" and "sheep" sound the same. Pretty clever association.

Update: 17 months

Dear Lily,
Today you turned 17 months old. You continue to grow and change so much each and every month. I wonder when one months time will stop resulting in such significant change. Even in the past few days you have started saying so many new words. I can't even keep up with my word tracking anymore. You pretty much say most common words. You still are not combining words very often but your vocabulary is growing fast. Last month you knew all your shapes, colors, letters, etc. This month you are saying all your shapes, colors, and letters. We have been taking walks outside. You like to pick up a leaf and tell me if it's green or brown. You can't eat dinner without telling me what color your plate or bowl is for that meal. There are two parks with creeks next to our house. Lately I have been trying to teach you how to skip rocks. You like to throw the rocks (with a little help) just to hear them make a loud plopping sound in the water. You say "big" and find big rocks. I can tell you are often thinking or analyzing something. You will say a word and then say the opposite for that word. You will say hot/cold, up/down, go/stop, open/close, off/on, yes/no.

You demand that we sing certain songs. You will say "bus" and we are supposed to sing Wheels on the Bus. Or "EIEIO" for Old Macdonald. Or "clap" for if you're happy and you know it. The funny thing is that I will always sing your request. You pretty much have Mommy figured out. The other day I put on jeans. You said "no jeans" and pulled out my purple skirt (which you love) and pulled at my jeans until I put on the skirt. You are irresistibly cute when you do these things.

You are napping and sleeping well. You are a little more adventurous with food. You will finally walk on carpet and play in sand. Suddenly bath time is no longer fun for you. So many changes happen so quickly when you grow so fast.

Here are a few pictures from this month:

You immediately ran up to this caterpillar and gave it a hug:

Riding the butterfly on the carousel:

Standing behind the glass is a live cheetah. It was pacing back and forth on this ledge. You wanted to pet it:

Nonna and Grandpa visit

Dear Lily,
Last week Nonna and Grandpa came to visit. Time flew by quickly and as usual we did not take enough pictures. It's a good thing we have been doing a lot of Skyping lately, because you knew exactly who Nonna was. You love to pretend that you are talking on the phone with Nonna. It was nice to have them around and enjoy some of Nonna's cooking. Hopefully we will see each other again soon! We took some pictures and we all tried very hard to get you to smile. But you didn't feel like smiling for this one:

or this one.....

nope, not going to smile for this one either:

still serious:

okay, I'll take that as a smile:

I think that might be an actual giggle:

On Saturday we all went to the Farmer's Market. Here you are watching the guitar player with Nonna:

Hi Grandpa!

We also went to Valley Forge to see a play with Grandpa and Nonna's friends. Here you are taking a walk with Daddy:

Then the three of us posed by the same tree we took a picture at two days before you were born. My, how much you have changed our lives in a little over a year.

Same tree (April 12, 2009):

Thanks for the visit Grandpa and Nonna! Come back again soon!
Love,
Mommy
