Update: 23 months

Dear Lily,
When I started this blog for you I asked myself how long I would realistically be able to keep up with daily/regular posts. Now I know the answer to that question is about two years. Picture taking and documenting have slowed down a bit, but we are doing our best to keep up with you. About a month ago, you were having a very hard time expressing your emotions which resulted in many temper tantrums. We have worked hard on teaching you the right words to express yourself instead of crying. Now you will let us know if you feel sad, are hurt, or tired. It's making a really big difference. When another child steals a toy from you, you are starting to say "Lily hurts" instead of screaming. We are making progress, however, sharing continues to be a struggle for you.

You have grown a lot in the last month. You are talking in so many sentences that it's not even possible to write them down at this point. You have an expansive vocabulary. You continue to entertain yourself with playing with your baby, pretend shopping, and reading books. There is a creek down the block from our house. You LOVE to throw rocks in the creek. You are starting a little rock collection. It seems that you always pick one favorite rock to take home. Grandma Mandy said Daddy used to do the same thing. You do so many things that are just like Daddy.

The most exciting news from this past month was our trip to Seattle to visit Aunt Heidi, Uncle Steven, and your cousins Audrey and Jack. We also got to see our college friends Kim, Zach, and their son Grant! You had a really great time. I think you especially look up to Audrey. It was really cute to watch you guys play. Here are some pictures from our trip:

Say cheese!

I'm going to be just like Audrey:

Sitting on top of a play ship at the mall:

Playing Mama Bear and Baby Bear at the Seattle Children's Museum:

Playing the bongos with Daddy:

Firefighter Lily:

Driving the fire truck with Daddy:

Posing in front of the Seattle space needle. Surprise, it was raining in Seattle:

Riding in a helicopter at the museum of flight:

All together:

Jack learned to walk during our visit. You probably won't remember but Mommy will never forget.

Next month is the big 2-0!

Love,
Mommy
